Copper Attractions is a showcase of the art I have created
inspired by the ghost town of Darwin California where I live.
Darwin is like a blank canvas.
There is no clutter to cloud the skies or pollute your mind,
no stores, no paved roads or cops.
You are exposed to the elements and yourself.
Here, there is nowhere to hide and nothing to distract you.
Darwin is the perfect place to invent, re-invent and live in the now.
Its post apocalypse landscape is studded with mines, the colors of oxidized ore
- abandoned cars and acres of old tin can dumps.
The alchemy of time has transformed its trash into treasures. Each one a rusty jewel.
In this environment I am able to unwind form the confines of my
commercial art background and tap into the energy that surrounds me.
There is copper ore in these mines.
I have been exploring how copper shines, and patinas.
Fascinated by the gems & crystals I find I have been exploring how scalable and geometric their molecular forms can be, mirroring the sacred geometry of the universe.
The addition of magnets has allowed me to go beyond gravity and explore conductivity
.. I am THAT close to creating electricity!
Browse through the galleries to see what the landscape inspires.
